Non-fiction/current events reading
Feb 13th, 2009 by K. Jessup

test1Ms. Wilbourne & Ms. Beith required their students to focus on non-fiction reading outside of class this year.  As a culminating project, they completed two different assignments.

Ms. Wilbourne had her students use their non-fiction reading and a current event in the news to create their own newspaper article.  These articles were turned into a webpage and combined to make a class newspaper website.

Here is the finished product for G Block

Ms. Beith did a similar assignment with students using their non-fiction to create a product that gave the facts of their reading, then moved through the lower to higher level thinking of Blooms taxonomy.

Leighty-Spanish II Gramativa
Jan 9th, 2009 by K. Jessup

Ms. Leighty had students work in groups to create review videos to help the class prepare for the semester exam.  Each group chose a different grammar lesson to teach to the class. When finished the class had multiple videos to watch to help them review and study.  This a great way for students to become the expert and teach each other.

Groups were given the responsibility to create a timeline for the project to help them with time management and organization in order to complete the task by the due date.  In addition, specific directions and a rubric were created by the teacher.

Shakespeare Comics
Jan 8th, 2009 by K. Jessup

Ms. Chandler collaborated with Ms. Starr and Ms. Walker to create a Shakespeare project for their IB English 6 students.  This unit was an introduction to the Elizabethian and Shakespeare language that will be taught in more detail in English 7 & 8.

The following website was created by Ms. Chandler to deliver a pre-quiz and rubrics for each of the product options.  The students score on the pre-quiz helped guide students to choose a product type (A,B, or C)

One class created a website for their talk shows and uploaded the latest episode.
